Ayumu lines up 21st on Qatar Moto3 grid
Red Bull KTM Tech3 rider Ayumu Sasaki managed to improve his lap time from Friday at this weekend’s Qatar GP, although the wind was blowing stronger today, but eventually missed a possible Q2 entry by 0.282 seconds. The Japanese youngster will start the first race of the season on Sunday at 16.20 local time (14.20 CET) from row seven.
“Today we improved a lot from day one. The conditions in FP3 were a lot different than yesterday, so it wasn’t easy to do a good lap time. In Q1, I managed to do a quite decent lap in the beginning to be fourth, but then some other guys passed me and we ended up in P7. Overall, we were quite good, we made another step forward for the race, so in the end, obviously it’s not the position, we wanted, but we end up with a positive frame of mind. The race is tomorrow, hopefully we can catch the front group as soon as possible. The grid seems to be quite mixed, so I think we are able to go towards the front. My pace is good, we just need to do some more changes in Warm Up and then go for it.”
