Red Bull KTM Tech3’s Ayumu Sasaki made it into the top 14 at the end of the first session of the Gran Premio de la Comunitat Valenciana this weekend. Like his teammate, the Japanese youngster couldn’t lower his lap time in the afternoon, but ended Friday just 0.697 seconds behind the top. Sasaki aims to find his way back to the direct Q2 spots in FP3 tomorrow starting at 10.00 local time.

“It was quite an ok first day. We improved compared to last week, but I think in FP2 we went in the wrong direction and it took us some time to realize that. I have to admit, that I’m not satisfied with this second session, as I was quite sure I could improve my FP1 time. The position doesn’t look very good, but I think we are not so far from the top and we will try to come back tomorrow, because we know we can do well.”
