Red Bull KTM Tech3’s Ayumu Sasaki made huge steps throughout day one at the Circuito de Jerez – Angel Nieto. Following a smooth start in FP1, the Japanese improved by 2.382 seconds this afternoon to place himself in P11, which means he’ll sit in a provisional Q2 position overnight along with his teammate.

“This first day has been decent, finishing in P11. In FP1, we were working for the race with used tyres, so the result was not really important. Anyway, I felt good with the bike already this morning. In the second session, we pushed for a fast lap time and finished in P11. We could see that we have a good speed, yet I made a few mistakes on my fast lap. Therefore, I will try to further improve in FP3 tomorrow morning. Overall, I think we did well today.”
