Starting the fifth round of the 2021 Moto3 World Championship season from P15 on a wet track, Red Bull KTM Tech3’s Ayumu Sasaki came off the line incredibly well to find himself in P7 by the end of lap one. He progressed further throughout the 22 laps and managed his race well until he crossed the line in a strong fifth position, scoring a third top 5 in a row, which lifts him up to sixth in the World Championship standings.

“It was a difficult weekend with the weather. First of all, I have to say thank you to all the team. I spoke to Hervé last night, which helped me to keep believing in myself, because I was struggling a bit in the mixed conditions. In the last years I never scored points in this weather. Yesterday I was gaining confidence and finally we could do it. I’m very happy and even more happy than being on the podium in the dry. I think in my head, I made one step forward. We are now P6 in the Championship and not far from the second. We are getting closer and I think we are doing the right steps. In the dry we are strong, but in the wet, we haven’t been strong enough. But today I was aggressive in the race and managed to finish in P5. Today I’m proud of myself, thanks to the team for this amazing job!”
