Ayumu tenth on opening day of #AustrianGP weekend

Red Bull KTM Tech3’s Ayumu Sasaki followed his positive trend today at the Red Bull Ring, following his comeback after injury and the summer break. The Japanese concluded FP1 inside the top 10 and like his teammate kept his position by the end of the day, missing out on the top by just 0.405 seconds, which also keeps him sitting in a comfortable Q2 spot overnight.

“I think it was a good day. We improved on the bike since last week. We have been struggling in one part one week ago in the dry and this week, we solved the issue already. I’m happy about my fastest lap in FP1. I guess we could have done a bit better in FP2 if we had the chance for a time attack in the end, but it started to rain. I still think we did a decent first day, the bike is almost ready for the race, so I’m happy for that. Now let’s try to finish Qualifying in a better position than last week. Hopefully we can have another great race here.”
