Ayumu Sasaki to start Misano GP from row five
With a strong improvement of 0.857 seconds in FP3 compared to his fastest time yesterday, Red Bull KTM Tech3’s Ayumu Sasaki made the straight jump to Q2 at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli today. During this all-important session around lunchtime, the Japanese managed to use his first outing to set a pretty fast lap, which eventually saw him finishing Qualifying in P13.
“It was an ok Qualifying. I expected a bit more, but the conditions have been a lot different compared to this morning. That is something we needed to learn a little bit and trying to understand what happened. Overall, I feel good. I think we can be strong in the race, which is a good point. We struggled a little bit more in Qualifying, so I think we can do better in the race. We need to find a little bit more to fight for the podium like we did in Aragon, so we will see what we can do tomorrow.”
