Ayumu sets to work at the Circuit of the Americas
Red Bull KTM Tech3’s Ayumu Sasaki went cautious in the morning in Austin, not risking anything on wet tarmac. The Red Bull KTM Tech3 rider did very well to lower his lap time step by step in Free Practice two this afternoon. Although he crashed out on the way to a new personal best during the final minutes of the session, he ended up in P13, which means he’ll occupy a provisional Q2 spot until tomorrow morning.
“I think it was a good first day. I crashed on the last lap, which was a decent one that would have brought me inside the top three, I think. But I had a huge highside and some pain everywhere. But at least, I’m ok. The speed is there, so now we just need to improve some small things on the bike. After FP1 was wet, this afternoon’s FP2 was our first proper session here. There is room to improve, but the pace is there. I think we can go way quicker tomorrow and I hope it’s going to stay dry. Our work so far was very good, now we need to analyze and work towards a hopefully strong race.”
