Red Bull KTM Tech3’s Ayumu Sasaki kicked off the second event at the wet Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli in strong form today. The Japanese used Free Practice one this morning to get used to the conditions step by step and showed a huge improvement in FP2 later today.

He went 2.5 seconds quicker although the asphalt was soaked in the second session of the weekend as well to eventually conclude Friday in a fine fourth position.

“I think it was a very good first day on a wet track. Honestly, I was always struggling more in the rain than in the dry, so it’s satisfying to gain some confidence here today, finishing P4 overall. This morning, I had a decent feeling on the first outing, but we made a mistake on the second run. So, we couldn’t improve, but in FP2 we managed to find a very good setup and have been very strong from the beginning. I’m very happy with the work we have done. The main goal this weekend for me is try to just focus on myself. I went out first in both practices and tried to do my own thing. I think we did it, so it went very well. Hopefully it’s dry tomorrow, we can do well in the dry as well and have a great race on Sunday.”
