Ayumu Sasaki heads up the fourth row of the #AlgarveGP grid
Red Bull KTM Tech3’s Ayumu Sasaki had a decent day in the office once again on Qualifying day for the Grande Prémio do Algarve. The Japanese managed to further lower his Free Practice time this morning by 0.725 seconds and went straight to Q2 with an eighth overall. Later, he went another 0.355 seconds quicker in Qualifying around lunchtime, where he did his fastest lap time early and eventually landed in tenth position.
“It was a decent Qualifying. We wanted a little bit more, as we know that we’ll have to do a long lap in tomorrow’s race. But we have a good race pace. I improved my feeling on the bike again during Qualifying and I think I made another step forward now. Even with the long lap, I’m pretty confident for tomorrow. If I can do it well, I can hopefully still follow the front group and maybe even still fight for the podium. I just need to focus, try to do some good first laps, do the long lap and see where we can end up.”
