Ayumu Sasaki #71

Biography

Taking two wins in the Asia Talent Cup upon its inauguration in 2014, Ayumu Sasaki then took the crown the following year as well as competing in the Red Bull Rookies Cup where he notched his first victory of that series in addition to a stunning podium finish, first time out at Valencia in the FIM CEV Repsol Moto3™ Junior World Championship in Valencia in 2015.

His meteoric rise continued in 2016, where the Japanese ace was crowned Red Bull Rookies Champion. He also finished sixth in the ultra-competitive FIM CEV Repsol Moto3™ Championship. During his Red Bull Rookies winning year, Ayumu also made a one-off appearance in the Moto3™ World Championship with Gresini Racing, replacing an injured rider.

He raced full time on the world stage in 2017 with the SIC Racing Team, claiming the title of Rookie of the Year. The team was re-named Petronas Sprinta Racing for 2018, with Sasaki remaining for his sophomore season.

He continued with the squad in 2019 after taking two front row starts and several top eight finishes.

For 2020 Sasaki moves to the KTM Tech3 team.
